Henna by MightyT Henna by MightyT
I spent more than half an hour looking at the picture, asking my self whether to upload it or not. It's been a long time since I uploaded anything. I hesitated a lot and finally decided not to upload it. Then again I was like: It is better to upload it and here peoples comments about it which will help me improve then not knowing what are the down sides of the picture.

There are many reasons that make me not like the picture, I was in a hurry the girl couldn't wait for too long. The hand isn't alligned to the tables decoration which makes the picture look messed up. The tip of her fingers are out of focus and the shadow of her hands is cropped.

This is something we have in our tradition, girls decorate their hands in an event called "jalwa" which comes before the wedding. The material used is called "henna" and there are many styles and artistic designs talented girls make for the bride and her guests.

Please, critique is needed. I would like to hear anything that crosses your minds.

i actually quite like the position as well beacuse it leaves the photo more dynamic and less static it gives it more intreast like there was almost something going on when you took the photo instead of it being a posed forced position

its beautiful =) and all the things you think make the picture bad or whatever make it more unique =) and the plain table with the simple design at the top emphasizes her hands, and the henna design itself is beautiful  =)

Hehehe maybe thats because I am an over ambitious person and I always want to improve quickly thats why I always point out the bad things in me instead of looking at the bright side. Am really glad you like it, I never knew Henna is a new trend in the US I just knew when (sp4depir4te) said so. Am so glad you like the picture, maybe next time you put Henna in your hands you can take a picture and show us :D

lol. well, i've never had henna designs on my hands, i have an idian friend who used to get it done all the time. she an i grew apart over the years so i don't know if she gets it done now, but i still remember the really pretty henna designs on her hands. henna really isn't big in the U.S. well... alteast where i live. but i ave alwasy been fond of henna and especially tattoos. i hope to have some of my own fairly soon, and maybe if i find a place to get henna i will definately get it done :D :) :D yes, i absoutely love this pic. and once again, you did an amazing job with it ;) :) :D

I hate henna,
but it is a great capture really
i noticed that the ends of her fingers are out of focus, which cropped a little,
but still great picture and you should be proud of it ;)
keep up the good work ;)

For a Macro Shot,i think it would have looked alot better if u were little closer on the details of the henna...and for such a shot i recommend that u use a Diffuse light by a Softbox for good lightening.

Closer on the details meaning getting the camera even closer so that the hand takes more space in the picture or putting the whole hand under focus?

Personally its a great picture. The way the table decoration is it actually draws more attention to the Henna. The henna itself looks fine and the fact that you know what you are doing with it makes it seem more beautiful. You aren't just using henna because it is trendy like a lot of Americans do

Thank you so much for your supportive comment, Glad you like it :) Yeah the point of the table's decoration is to add more life to the picture but I wish it was vertically aligned to the girl's hands. I never knew Americans put "Henna", is it a new trend in the US? What do you call it there?

Well its catching on here in the States, and we call it Henna, but unless you can find a really talented artist the just kinda use stencils or they do their own designs.
